# SideNote Pro

> SideNote Pro is a native Windows AI assistant that stays beside the work already on screen. You connect it to the AI provider or local model you choose using your own credentials, so it ships with no AI subscription of its own. Developed by BediniLabs.

## Product

- A native Windows application, not a web application in a desktop wrapper.
- Summoned from anywhere with a global shortcut, Ctrl+Shift+Space by default. It floats, snaps to a screen edge, stays above other windows, or retracts into a right-edge drawer, so the application already in front of you stays in front of you.

- Bring your own AI: you choose the provider, and SideNote Pro fills in that provider's usual endpoint. The endpoint stays editable, so a profile can point at a gateway, a proxy, a local server or any other OpenAI-compatible service. Model IDs can be loaded from the provider or typed by hand.
- Works against OpenAI-compatible streaming Chat Completions endpoints.
- Hosted providers and locally run providers are both supported. A local endpoint needs no provider account, and needs no internet connection for ordinary generation once it is set up.
- No bundled AI subscription and no AI credits. The licence covers the software; the provider you chose bills the usage.

## Privacy and data flow

- Settings, conversation history, attached image data, locally extracted document content, folder indexes, the usage ledger, licensing state and device identity are all stored on the user's own device.
- Content reaches the configured AI provider when the user submits a request. Depending on that request it can include the message, relevant earlier conversation context, images explicitly attached or captured, text extracted locally from attached documents, text captured by a selected-text action the user invoked, excerpts local retrieval selected from an indexed folder, and the summary produced when a long conversation is compacted.
- Folder contents are not uploaded wholesale. Traversal, extraction, indexing, search and ranking all run locally, and only the selected excerpts enter the request.
- Screenshots and selected text are read only after an explicit action by the user. There is no passive screen, clipboard, microphone or camera monitoring.
- No telemetry, no account, no cloud conversation storage and no cross-device sync.
- The separate BediniLabs licensing service handles licensing, device and trial metadata only. AI requests do not pass through it, and it does not proxy them. Starting the server-authorized trial does require a licensing request.

- One-time application licence, plus AI provider usage billed separately by the provider the customer chooses.
- $49 once for 1 user on up to 2 devices, after a 30-day free trial. Starting the trial needs an internet connection, because it is authorized by the licensing service rather than issued on the device.
- Business and Enterprise licensing are arranged by email rather than bought online, and neither unlocks extra application features.
